After the Assistants API
OpenAI switched the Assistants API off on 26 August 2026, and the threads on it didn't move across on their own. Every bot built on it had to move to the Responses API, where an assistant becomes a prompt and a thread becomes a conversation. My team moved Aiden, a support chatbot builder for businesses, onto the Responses API, and still keeps it running.
